Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is transmitted via blood and, less commonly, through bodily secretions. Patients are most commonly infected via sharing needles and, in the past, via blood transfusions. Although sexual transmission is uncommon among heterosexuals, it is not uncommon among men who have sex with men. Acute hepatitis C infection is frequently asymptomatic, but a majority of patients infected with hepatitis C go on to have chronic infection. Today, there are easy treatments that cure this disease in over 95% of cases.
