Ventricular Fibrillation

Ventricular fibrillation is a common life-threatening and treatable dysrhythmia that occurs early in sudden cardiac death. The treatment for VF is immediate defibrillation using either an AED or manual defibrillator. The 2015 American Heart Association/International Liaison Committee of Resuscitation (AHA/ILCOR) guideline strongly recommend early initiation of continuous compressions and early defibrillation. The sooner VF is terminated by defibrillation, the more likely the patient will recover.
